The investigation revealed connections with a shell company in the United Arab Emirates, supposedly used to wash advertising recipes that totaled £4.9 million (about R$ 31 million) since 2010. Investigators still found out £150,000 (approximately R)$ 960 000) in cryptocurrencies.

Multiple real estate properties in Egypt are suspected to have been acquired from illicit revenues from platform activities.

  • Premier League and Champions League
  • NFL, NBA and MLB
  • Boxing and MMA pay-per-view
  • Formula 1
  • Main American sports

Celebrities caught using illegal service

In 2024, LeBron James, star of the Los Angeles Lakers, was caught watching an NBA game between Minnesota Timberwolves and Dallas Mavericks through Streameast while on the court during an AAU match. At the time, users of the site feared on social networks that attention could lead to the closure of platform.

Entertainment industry response

Charles Rivkin, president of the ACE and CEO of the Motion Picture Association (MPA), said: "ACE has won a resounding victory in its struggle to detect, dissuade and dismantle criminal perpetrators of digital piracy by overthrowing the largest illegal live sports platform anywhere."

Ed McCarthy, COO of DAZN Group, which is part of ACE collaboration, added: "Dismantling Streameast is a big win for all who invest and depend on the live sports ecosystem. This criminal operation was sucking sports value at all levels and putting fans around the world at risk."

Imitation sites appear after closing

Although Streameast’s original domain is no longer active at the time of publication, several Reddit posts suggest that backup domains – or those that present themselves as substitute services – are already working. One of these platforms using the name Streameast claims to be "the ultimate destination for streaming Free sports.

ACE confirmed that it was aware of these Websites "imitators" – where impostors try to capitalize on a gap in the market – and currently investigates whether the sites are related.

Enforcement and resistance history

In August 2024, individual domains associated with network were seized by the U.S. Homeland Security Investigations, a division of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). However, network operators responded quickly, claiming that Streameast had more than 400 names of alternative sites that they could use for their broadcasts.

"Our fight will continue until sports become accessible to everyone," posted a website administrator on Discord right after last year's enforcement action. "We promise that once this is achieved, we will permanently terminate all Streameast services."

International collaboration against piracy

ACE works in collaboration with application the law around the world, including Europol, U.S. Department of Justice, Office of the U.S. Trade Representative and National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Centre.

The organization was founded in 2017, bringing together traditional media companies and digital platforms to address piracy that occurs globally through a combination of civil litigation, collaboration with application Local law and coordination with internet platforms.

Larissa Knapp, executive vice president and content protection director of MPA, commented: "This action quickly dismantled what was once the largest illegal sports streaming operation in the world, and I applaud the Egyptian authorities for their partnership. It is further proof that no piracy network is beyond the scope of coordinated global application."

User reaction

Content consumers rarely face consequences Cool.. "RIP streameast and crackstreams," posted an X user on Saturday, "you'll be missed."

Streameast's affected websites now redirect to ACE's "Watch Legally" information hub, the coalition reported.

This case represents a milestone in the struggle against digital sports piracy and demonstrates the growing international cooperation to protect copyright in the digital environment. The operation serves as a warning to other illegal networks that authorities are stepping up efforts to combat unauthorized distribution of sports content.
